My name is Gary Cristall and I am writing a book about Folk Music in English Canada. For over 20 years I ran a folk festival, worked for the Canada Council for the Arts, and generally was immersed in Folk Music. Now I am trying to make sense of it all. If you are interested there is a somewhat rambling explanation of who I am and what I am doing on this site. In the near future there will be more information about what I am doing as I research my book and what I am looking for. I hope to use this site to find people and things I need for my book and as a forum of discussion for folks who are interested in the topic.

I'd love to hear what you think of the outline. I'm also looking for people who were part of this history. If you were involved in folk music as either a performer or consumer, especially in the period before 1970, I'd love to hear from you. I'm also looking for memorabilia - old songbooks, concert and festival programs, etc.
